A driver escaped a far worse fate when his pickup truck overturned on a bank above the Passaic River in Garfield on Saturday.
The driver got out OK after the crash at the Passaic Street bridge over the Passaic River at the Garfield border on River and Passaic streets.

The driver appeared OK after climbing out of the truck.
